Who we are
mbmi.org is an independent educational website produced by the Mind and Body content team. It has two parts: current guides on the relaxation response, stress and conditions where mind-body practice has been studied, and an archive of the website the Mind/Body Medical Institute published at this address between 2001 and 2010.
We are not the Mind/Body Medical Institute, the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine or Massachusetts General Hospital, and we are not affiliated with them. We do not offer programs, appointments, treatment or products. For clinical services today, visit the Benson-Henry Institute.
How we write our guides
Each guide cites its sources, which are peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews and clinical guidelines, and links each citation to the paper where a DOI exists. We say when evidence is limited, mixed or negative, and we do not claim that relaxation practices treat disease.
Guides show the date they were last updated. Our team is not a medical panel, and we do not claim that guides are reviewed by named physicians. Read them as plain-language summaries of published research and take medical decisions to your clinician.
We accept no advertising or sponsorship, and no one pays to be mentioned. Where a source is an organisation's guideline, we name the organisation.
How we make the archive
The archive pages are new summaries of what the original pages said, with short attributed quotations, the original address, the capture dates and a link to the full capture on the Internet Archive. We credit the original authors. Details are on the About the archive page.
